Martin Automatic Technical Seminar to Address Various Converting Segment Applications

ROCKFORD, IL, USA—Martin Automatic will address various segments of the industry at its technical seminar and open house. Slated for March 19–21, 2002, at the Martin Automatic headquarters in Rockford, IL, the event has been divided into three sessions:

  • Nonwovens and Disposable Products: This session will include technical presentations on "Web Handling for Light Web Products" and "Cost-Benefit Analysis of Spooling," which will be presented in conjunction with contract converter, KT Industries). This session will include a "hands-on" workshop that will explore tapeless heatseal splicing methods for automatic unwinds.
  • Flexible Packaging and Laminating: This session will cover such topics as "Advances in In-Register Splicing Systems" and "Splicing Options for High Speeds and Low Tensions." (Martin Automatic says it will repeat the heatseal splicing workshop during this session as well.)
  • Paperboard Printing and Converting: Technical discussions in this session will include "Tension Control and Registered Processes" and "Advances in Rewinding Systems."

According to the co., all sessions will include live demonstrations of automatic splicing and rewinding systems, "ranging from an economical eight-in.-wide heatseal splicer to a 140-in.-wide splicer that's capable of running 90-in. dia. stock rolls. Other featured systems will include a narrow web butt splicer and automatic transfer rewind as well as a lap splicer equipped with Airnertia roller technology for high speeds and low tensions."
