SPI Opens 'Multilingual Online Resource'

WASHINGTON, DC | To help international visitors prepare for NPE2009 and increase the return on their NPE investment, the Society of the Plastics Industry, Inc.(SPI) this month opened a multilingual online resource as a special section of the NPE2009 website. Produced by SPI, NPE2009 takes place June 22–26, 2009, at Chicago's McCormick Place.

The new online resource, accessed at www.npe.org/attendee/international, provides extensive information on U.S. visas, visitor delegations, programs for international visitors, and other important matters. All information is available in 10 languages.

The NPE2009 international plastics exposition will play host to a total of 2,000 companies exhibiting within 1 million square feet of space, with more than a third of them coming directly from outside the US. About 75,000 plastics professionals from 120 countries are expected to register.

NPE2009 will be comprised of the following SPI-produced and co-located events: the NPE 2009 trade show, with 2,000 exhibitors; the Society of Plastics Engineers' ANTEC 2009 technical conference, with more than 650 original, peer-reviewed presentations; SPI's "The Business of Plastics" educational program; MoldMaking Expo conference and exposition produced by Gardner Publications, Inc.; Time Compression conference and exposition, a new Gardner event focusing on rapid product design and development; Spanish-language technical seminars produced by Tecnología del Plástico magazine; the PET Strategies Plus conference, produced by Packaging Strategies; and the Coatings for Plastics conference, produced by the Federation of Societies for Coatings Technology.

Two of the many additional special programs at NPE2009 will be the first International Plastics Design Competition and the multi-exhibitor Emerging Technologies Pavilion, with sectors for sustainability, bioplastics, nanotechnology, and energy.
