Glatfelter Launches New Sustainability Section to Website

YORK, PA | Glatfelter, a global supplier of specialty papers and engineered products, is launching a new section of its website dedicated to the topic of sustainability. Drawing on the Glatfelter heritage of over 145 years in the paper-making industry, the new sustainability area highlights Glatfelter’s efforts to conserve resources, prevent waste, and foster environmental, economic and social sustainability for the benefit of future generations.

The new site targets three major areas that relate to the company: (1) The environmental section details performance measures, production practices, sustainable forestry initiatives, and environmentally responsible products. (2) The economic section highlights capital investments, economic positioning, financial performance and new product development efforts. (3) The social section features such topics as safety, wellness, training and community support.

Users can also learn about the company’s commitment to sustainability, the paper lifecycle and Glatfelter's policies and certifications. George H. Glatfelter II, chairman and CEO of Glatfelter, noted: “Sustainability is about conducting business in ways that protect and enhance the environmental, economic and social resources that are entrusted to us. By accepting the responsibility to operate our business in a sustainable manner, we protect the ability of future generations to enjoy a quality of life equal to or greater than our own.”

A company press release relates that more than ever, customers have expressed interest for the environment and have asked for participation on the part of their suppliers, like Glatfelter, to assist them in adopting more sustainable business practices. Glatfelter added, “We applaud these efforts, and agree that cooperation is the most effective way to reach sustainable goals.”

Headquartered in York, PA, Glatfelter's specialty paper and engineered products are used in a broad variety of industries including book publishing, food and beverage packaging, medical, composite laminates, converting and digital imaging. US operations include facilities in Spring Grove, PA, and Chillicothe and Fremont, OH. International operations include facilities in Germany, France, the United Kingdom and the Philippines and a representative office in China.
