Surface Winder Is Reversible

MISSISSAUGA, ON, CANADA | Macro Engineering & Technology’s latest addition to its family of surface winders includes the AUTOMAX-SBG Reversible Surface Winder. A reversible winding mode allows the processor to choose whether to wind jumbo rolls with the film’s treated side in or out. Switching between winding directions is said uncomplicated, requiring the operator simply to thread the film in the opposite direction around the drum and select the appropriate winding direction on the touch screen. Straight edge cutovers also are possible without fold-over to produce rolls with flat, wrinke-free film down to the core, thus allowing usage of the entire roll and preventing scrap. Additional features include a gap winding mode, programmable tension controls, fully automatic roll transfers, and an integrated shaft hoist that returns the shaft to the loading position without requiring heavy lifting. Handles rolls up to 1.5 m (4.9 ft) in diameter and film thickness from 15 to 400 microns (0.6 to 16 mil). Winding shafts are available in 76 mm (3 in.) and 152 mm (6 in.) sizes. Accommodates materials up to 3 m (9.8 ft) wide at speeds to 200 mpm (656 fpm).
