Elsner Celebrates 75th Anniversary

HANOVER, PA

Elsner Engineering Works is marking the company's 75th anniversary as a third-generation, family-owned and operated business. Elsner was founded Aug. 4, 1934, by German immigrants Franz and Johanna Elsner. Franz began the business repairing equipment and designing special machinery for local manufacturers. Elsner began designing and manufacturing converting machinery in the mid-1950s, selling its first roll packaging system to the Tuttle Press Co. In 1967 the founder's sons, Frank Jr. and Bertram, took over the business. Today, grandsons Frank “Rusty” III and Bertram II, operate the company. To commemorate the anniversary, several festivities are planned throughout the year including a celebratory banquet and sponsorship of local community events.
