Capri Packaging Orders MIRAFLEX W&H Flexo Press

LINCOLN, RI | Capri Packaging, a div. of Schreiber Foods, has installed a 10-color MIRAFLEX CM flexographic press from Windmoeller & Hoelscher at its newly expanded 120,000 sq ft facility in its Clinton, MO, facility. Schreiber Foods, claimed the world's largest customer-brand dairy company, initially opened Capri Packaging in 1994 to produce flexible packaging that would meet the unique needs of its customers in the private label market.

In addition to supplying Schreiber customers, Capri also supplies external customers with packaging solutions. The new press and plant expansion were pivotal in supporting Capri's overall growth in these areas, according to Myron Geiser, director of packaging: “With the new press and our ability to turn around multiple short runs and a variety of SKUs, we are well equipped and ready to take on more outside packaging jobs. The press has also helped make our printing operation more efficient by reducing waste and energy consumption.”

Plant manager Rick Heck adds, “The MIRAFLEX began production in December 2010 and the start-up went very well. Production speeds are up. Changeover times are down. That combination is important for meeting our customers' needs and for driving future growth.”

The line at Capri is capable of printing speeds up to 1,650 fpm. It is equipped with EASY-SET for automatic impression setting, EASY-REG for registration, TURBOCLEAN automatic ink supply and wash-up system, and EASY-COL color matching system.
