PFFC’s “On Print” columnist Dene Taylor will present educational session on packaging

RadTech, the association for UV & EB technology, will stage a two-day event, uv.eb WEST 2015, on March 10-11 at the Crowne Plaza Redondo Beach & Marina Hotel in Redondo Beach, CA. The conference and exhibition will cover UV LED, UV inkjet, 3D printing, printing and packaging, and industrial coatings. Attendees also will learn how Iron Man was 3D printed in the March 10 keynote address, “Creating Iron Man, Robo Cop, and Other Hollywood Special EFX Using 3D Printing,” by Jason Lopes, Legacy Effects.

A sold out exhibition hall will include 40+ tabletop exhibitors, including BASF Corp., Dymax Oligomers & Coatings, EIT Instrument Markets, Emerald Performance Materials, ESI, GEW, Heraeus Noblelight America, Honle UV America, PCT Engineered Systems, and more. The exhibition will be open 10:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. on March 10 and 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. on March 11.

UV/EB Inkjet–Facilitating Adoption for Packaging

An educational track focused on packaging—including food packaging—will be held March 10 from 2:00–4:00 p.m. RadTech reports that while UV/EB inkjet is used extensively for labels, there also is a tremendous opportunity for use on food packaging. The following sessions will be presented:

• "Printing Packaging with UV & EB Inkjet—Barriers to Installation" by Sean Evans, Amgraph Packaging Inc.
• "Why UV/EB Inkjet Is The Best Digital Process for Packaging" by Dene Taylor, SPF Inc. and PFFC’s “On Print” columnist
• "UV Inkjet Printing on Food Packaging: State-of-Art and Outlook" by Roel De Mondt, Agfa Materials
• "Regulation Friendly UV Curable Products" by Jo Ann Arceneaux, Allnex Inc.

• Keynote presentation on March 11: "Coatings Innovations the Markets Are Requiring in 2016" by Bob Richardson, Jabil-Green Point
• Al Marquardt from Kimberly-Clark will present an insider's view of what consumer product companies think of inks, and how and when they use inks, specialty inks, and color to sell their products.
